Hey, Trenton here :)
I’m going to be doing some vocal and songwriting workshops while we’re out on tour. I’ve been singing, writing and touring with Hands Like Houses for almost 4 years now, and have been singing for close to 10 years. Being in the band has been an awesome experience to be a part of, and I’ve been learning new things constantly every step of the way. A lot of those things, I wish I’d known a few years sooner because they’ve drastically affected the way I perform, write, and conduct myself in the band, all for the better.
I really enjoy working with young musicians, helping develop their skills and music to be the best they can be. Music’s an awesome thing that takes life of it’s own, but learning to control it, create it and shape it is one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had. It’s my hope that that experience can help nudge you in the right direction to develop your career.
While we’re on tour, I’ll be offering introductory vocal lessons, teaching some of the techniques I’ve learned along the way to beginners and singers who are looking to step up to a professional level. I do always recommend consistent, personal lessons with a qualified teacher, as the biggest improvements always take more time and training than a single lesson could give, but there are a few simple tips and exercises I’ve learned that in themselves helped unlock aspects of my voice and performance that I was able to develop and extend with time and experience to get me to where I am today.
Likewise, I will be offering songwriting workshops to help refine and develop your music, lyrics and even encourage you in the right direction to get your band ready for touring, recording or taking on the music business in general. If you have lyrics or mp3s, I’d love to sit down with you, listen through and offer constructive critiques and advice. And if not, I can show you through some of my own, explain some of the techniques and references and show how I’ve used them to best communicate the ideas behind the songs, as well as answer any questions you might have about the band, touring or life as a musician in general.
I’ll only be taking one hour’s worth of workshops for each tour date so if you’re interested, get in fast and I look forward to having the chance to work with you.
